With an active Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System MyChart account, you will receive notification of new balances and new statements.  If you opted out of paperless statements or do not have an active MyChart account, you will receive a monthly statement by mail.

A patient billing statement will be generated within 30 days of a balance listed as the patient’s responsibility.

Contact information can be updated within your MyChart account. You can also call us at 864-596-1001 or 800-281-5346 to update contact information or insurance information from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. 

As Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System partners with other local providers to offer the best possible care, you may be billed separately for some services.

One example is MGC Anesthesiology: 

• MGC Anesthesiology bills are processed through a separate billing system. These services will not show in your MyChart portal but will be billed by mail at your mailing address.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit card, check and cash payments.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System offers extended, zero-interest payment plans for consumers unable to pay in full, allowing up to five years to pay off medical debt with a minimum requirement of $50 a month.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System contracts with the majority of health plans in our region, but please check with your healthcare plan to verify your coverage before scheduling services. Insurance benefits are the result of your contract with your insurance company. We are a third party to those benefits and may need your help with your insurance company to ensure your claim is paid correctly and on time.

Please note that your health plan may require you to schedule certain services (such as lab work, physical therapy, imaging, etc.) at select locations in your network. Should you choose to receive services outside of your network, your insurer may hold you responsible for all charges provided outside of your network.

Uninsured patients are those not covered under an insurance health plan, Workers’ Compensation, governmental plans such as Medicare and Medicaid, State/Federal Agency plans, Victim’s Assistance, etc., or third-party liability resulting from automobile or other accidents.

All uninsured patients will receive a 40% discount off their total bill on eligible services.

Patients who pay their bill in full within 30 days of the first statement date will receive an additional 10% “uninsured prompt-pay” discount off their total bill on eligible services.

Yes, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System can utilize a variety of third-party billing options:

• Workers’ compensation claims: Please ensure our billing office has the workers’ compensation information to adequately bill any services related to your worker’s compensation claim.  
• Motor vehicle accidents: If you are covered by a commercial insurance plan, the commercial plan will be filed as the primary payor of any services related to a motor vehicle accident.  
• Government plans: If you are covered by a government plan (e.g. Medicare or Medicaid), please ensure our billing office has the litigation claim information to adequately bill any related hospital services to the responsible party.

Spartanburg Regional has established a Financial Assistance Program for uninsured patients and/or those with limited financial resources.

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System sends four monthly statements (120-day billing cycle) before an account is referred to the bad debt collection agency. For accounts not on a payment plan, our final statement provides a 30-day notice that one or more balances are past due and will be sent to the bad debt collection agency that may perform extraordinary collection actions. 

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System participates in the South Carolina Debt Setoff program only as a last resort to collect unpaid medical debt. We send annual letters to consumers notifying them of accounts that could be sent to the SCDOR for SC tax refund Garnishment.
